MD/MS Admission 2026

The short version

01

Entrance route: NEET-PG is the main entrance route for MD/MS seats across participating medical colleges. INI-CET is separate for Institutes of National Importance.

02

Eligibility: MBBS, the required internship completion status and applicable medical registration must satisfy the current admission-cycle rules.

03

Counselling: MCC All India counselling and Karnataka counselling are separate systems with their own registrations, rounds and choice-filling rules.

04

Shortlisting: Your rank alone is not enough. Compare speciality, college, quota, budget, clinical exposure and recent cutoffs together.

05

Final step: A seat becomes secure only after the required allotment, fee, document verification and college reporting formalities are completed.

NEET-PG vs. INI-CET — Which One Do You Need?

Both are postgraduate medical entrance examinations, but they lead to different institution pools and counselling systems.

NEET-PG

i
Should you prepare for both?

If your target includes both Institutes of National Importance and the wider MD/MS college pool, plan the two application journeys separately and track their official notices independently.

How counselling works

A Clear MD/MS Counselling Roadmap

Admission Mantra follows a clarity-first approach: understand your rank, map realistic routes, build the right priority list and stay organised through each round.

Step 01

Analyse NEET-PG Rank

Review your rank, category, preferred specialty, budget and preferred locations before creating a college list.

Step 02

Register on the Right Portals

Follow MCC and Karnataka registration separately where relevant, using only the current official counselling notices.

Step 03

Build Speciality + College Choices

Compare recent cutoffs, clinical exposure, college type, fee budget and realistic rank position before ordering choices.

Step 04

Handle Each Round Carefully

Understand upgrade, resignation, forfeiture, reporting and choice-locking rules before taking a decision in each round.

Step 05

Accept the Allotment

Complete the required payment and acknowledgement steps within the official deadline for your allotted seat.

Step 06

Verify Documents & Report

Carry the prescribed originals and complete college reporting exactly as required by the competent authority.

Karnataka PG planning

MD/MS Seat Routes & Fee Planning

Fees and eligibility can vary substantially by college, speciality, category and seat type. Always use the current official seat matrix and fee notification before payment.

Route 01

Government / Merit Seats

Highly rank-sensitive seats governed by the applicable counselling authority, category rules, seat matrix and reporting requirements.

Best for: candidates with competitive ranks and eligible categories.
Route 02

Private College Seats

Private medical college options can vary by counselling category, specialty and current fee notification.

Best for: candidates balancing rank, speciality and budget.
Route 03

Institutional / Other Eligible Routes

Where legally available, higher-fee seat categories remain subject to NEET-PG eligibility and the notified counselling / admission system.

Verify the official route and fee before any commitment.
Fee advice

Never rely on an old fee screenshot or verbal quote. Confirm the current college, speciality, seat category and official fee structure before making payment.

Document readiness

Keep Your PG Medical Documents Ready

Exact requirements can vary by counselling authority and seat category, but these are the core records candidates usually organise before verification.
